Mushrooms are consumed all around the world. Edible mushrooms are the fleshy fruiting bodies of fungi. These are widely popular among the people for their nutritional value, unique taste. There few varieties of mushroom which are consumed by humans.
In India mushroom is cultivated commercially in many states. At present 3 varieties of mushrooms viz. the white mushroom the paddy-straw mushroom and the oyster mushroom are cultivated in India commercially.
These are served raw as salads or cooked, steamed and shaved over pasta. Thin slices of white or black truffle are inserted into meats, or are made as mushroom matar as a desi version.
